Massage Scalp to Prevent Hair Loss
Massage helps with many problems. Some people think it is a panacea, the cure for all diseases and body problems. It is really unbelievable how much massage can do in various aspects of health. People all over the world created different techniques for physical, functional and psychological purposes. Probably everyone knows that massage relaxes muscle cramps, but its effect on hair growth is a mystery to the majority of people.
The main benefit of any massage is the increased blood circulation which enriches skin with oxygen and essential nutrients. Properly done scalp massage does it too: the basis for hair loss in many cases is the lack of vitamins and minerals. After a massage actively circulating blood brings the nutrients to hair follicles. Besides, massage helps to relax, reduce stress, improve the strength of the roots and condition the scalp. This is why different movements in massage are important: kneading pressure increases blood circulation while rubbing motion provides relaxation.
Massage oil is an important part of best results. It moisturizes hair, makes it strong, reduces dandruff and dry skin, conditions the scalp and increases hair growth. Thanks to a good oil and regular massage one can forget about split ends, brittle hair and constantly breaking hair strands.
This is why good massage starts by choosing the right kind of oil. On our website you can find an article about hair oils which work with different kinds of hair. Jojoba, olive, coconut or any herbal oils are good for hair and scalp massage.
The oil should be warm, so before the procedure place the necessary amount of oil into a small bowl which should be placed over a dish with hot water. Dip the fingers in the bowl to check if the temperature of the oil is comfortable. Apply oil on the hair with the fingers parting different sections of hair. Once all the area of scalp is covered in oil, different massage techniques can be applied. A person can massage hair while shampooing, in this case there is no need for oil.
Scalp massage is really easy and usually takes about 5-10 minutes. Daily procedure will lead to the best results. A friend or relative can help, which will make massage more convenient.
Massage should start at the hairline right above the forehead. Moving the fingers with tight circular motion and applying medium pressure move to the base of the head. After the center part is done move to the sides starting with the temples and going to the neck. The next technique is the same as this one, but you should apply more pressure and move the fingers quicker.
Fingernails stimulate the blood flow in a few seconds: run them along the scalp front to the back several times making lines on the whole surface of the head. Very soon blood will rush to the skin and the person will feel pleasant warmth.
Press the fingertips firmly on both sides of the head right above the ears. Push the skin quickly upward and over the top of the head, then inward and outward back down. The skin might be tight in the beginning, but if the person repeats this technique daily, the difference will become obvious in a week.
Hair tugging can also be applied as massage: bend the head forward, grab a lock of hair as closely to the scalp as possible and pull. Let go and pull again. Do this exercise three times. But do not be too rough on yourself and do not turn healing technique to a balding exercise. If done right hair tugging stimulates new thicker growth.
